Luminate is pleased to share our Canada Year-End Music Report for 2022, presenting the most noteworthy music industry trends and insights over the past year. We’re especially excited to share this report for the first time ever under our new brand, which we revealed to the world in March. Having operated previously as P-MRC Data and before that Nielsen Music, we now cast our identity as Luminate, a name that reflects the innovation and energy of a new and capable perspective, steeped in experience and designed to serve the entertainment industry at the very moment virtually every question’s answer depends on data.
The 2022 music story was defined by the evolving mix of consumption habits as artists like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and Beyonce all achieved successful album launches through different streaming and sales, both physical and digital, combinations. We also introduce our new market segmentations for music listeners based on audience research insights, offer an analysis on the consumption effects of song syncs and partnerships, and launch Luminate’s new Global Hit Score, a new way to measure how far a song’s reach is on a global scale.
