Last week, Luminate released our 2023 Year-End Music Report detailing music’s most impactful trends and data with a focus on both the US and Global industry. One of the trends we noted in the report is the growth in streaming share of Female artists in the U.S.
With hugely impactful releases from artists like Taylor Swift, SZA, Miley Cyrus and others, the On-Demand Audio streaming volume of Female artists in the U.S. was up +4.2 share points in 2023 to 30.4% of streaming*. Though there was a dip in 2022 from 2021 in share, this is part of a larger trend in recent years as the streaming of Female artists has risen from 24.1% of volume in 2019 to its 5-year high notched in 2023.
In fact, in the U.S. last year, women held down three of the Top 5 most-streamed songs, and then when expanding out, 7 of the Top 15.
